Hello everybody. I just got back from taking Killian to see his first movie in the theatre. Although, he tried to see Brother Bear with his grandparents when it came out, he was too scared. Apparently, loud noises and big images freak 3-year-olds out. Before the previews were over, grandma and grandpa were at the ticket counter asking for their money back. So, technically that didn't count.
This time, however, we tried a different approach. We showed up late, so as skipping the previews, we picked a movie with characters he was familiar with, and we accompanied him. Killian was a little bit scared at first, but after 2 minutes he was hooked. At the end of the movie he was talking about going to another movie and how much enjoyed this one.
By the way, SpongeBob was a fun movie. If you like the TV show, the movie does not disappoint.

It's awesome to be back! The class is almost unchanged from last year. There are some new students and we no longer have last year's eight graders, but the only other people missing are Amal and Karimah. There are a lot of new things going on also. Maybe I should just make a list:(1) We are doing fund-raising for an expensive field trip to Safari West So far, we've raised half of the money. We'll probably do other fundraisers for different projects throughout the year.

(2) The classroom website has a much easier address redkid.net As well as several new feature including: This Blog, a Message Board, Picture of the Day, News, and Fun Friday Projects.
(3) We go to the computer lab once a week where students work on their own their own Blog. You can click on the names below to view their blogs.
Ahmed Antoine F Douglas Erick Fabian Flor Gabriela Haimanot Hector Jeffrey Julio Kelly Marlene Metti Nazarene Nezha Sewit Suad
(4) We do a film making club after school on Thursdays until 5:30.
(5) I'm teaching Algebra to certain students and everyone is in reading together.
I'm very pleased with the way things are going this year and hope to have as much fun as we did last year.

Well, this is the last post I'll make to the blog until school starts. I promised I'd put up the pictures of the finished studio, so here they are. I've also included the pictures of the way it looked at the beginning of summer. Believe me, it's come a long way. If you could have seen what it looked like a year ago, you'd be amazed. Anyway, enjoy the pics and I'll see you all in a few days. Oh yeah, if you haven't looked at the News section of the website, it would be a good idea to do that now.Later,
Mr. D

Here is a picture from the Japanese Festival in Concord. Watching grown men hit each other with sticks always makes for good entertainment. My mother works with the guy who runs the festival, so we attend every year. The food is awesome and there are cool games for the kids. What's weird though, is that I actually went to a Japanese restaurant last night. I never eat Japanese food unless I'm at the festival, but I went out with all of my brother-in-laws last night and they all wanted sushi. So, we ended up at a Japanese joint. Fortunately, they had Chinese food as well, so that's what I ordered. Afterwards we went to go see the Bourne Supremacy. In a word it SUCKED. I actually fell asleep for about 25 minutes. How good could it have been. I suppose the Sake could have made me sleepy, but I prefer to think it was the sub-par movie. Anyhow, if you are reading this, why don't you leave a comment telling me what you are up to or whatever else you'd like to say. It won't be too long before we're all back at school and won't have anywhere near this much free time on our hands.

Hey everyone. Here is a low resolution image for the marquee I made for my arcade cabinet. This is the part that lights up above the monitor. It's actually 28 inches by 8 inches and looks really awesome lit up. If you're wondering what Red Kid is, it's actually the initials of both of my sons. Red stands for R iley E lijah D elaurenti and Kid stands for K illian I saiah D elaurenti. I haven't been doing anything exciting lately. I've completely finished my wife's studio on the inside. Now I just need to paint the outside. I've also been setting up my recording studio inside of her painting studio. I'll post pictures before summer's over.
Tomorrow I'm going to the SF aquarium to look at the fishies. I will also be checking into going on a field trip there for next year. I've taken classes there in the past, but this is in a new building that is very close to the Metreon. I'll have to see how it goes.
I hope you all are enjoying your last few weeks of summer. I can't wait to start back to school!
Peace,
Mr. D
